Andrey Gurov is a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections on October 25, according to a decision by the Central Election Commission. He was put forward by a nomination committee alongside vice-presidential candidate Georgi Kandev.

Gurov was born on December 31, 1975, in the town of Gotse Delchev. He graduated from the Language High School in Blagoevgrad. He spent the first two years of his higher education at St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.

In 1999, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Truman State University in the USA, focusing on economics, mathematical statistics, and probability theory. Between 2000 and 2002, he completed a postgraduate program in Quantitative Finance at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna.

He began his professional career in 1999 as a credit analyst at Harris Bank in Chicago. Between 2002 and 2007, he worked at Volksbank in Vienna, rising to the position of Head of the Banking Group’s Credit Risk Control Department. From 2010 to 2026, he taught finance at the American University in Bulgaria. He taught courses in corporate finance, financial markets and institutions, business valuation, risk management, investments, and portfolio management.

From July 2023 to February 2026, he served as Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, heading the Issue Department. 

On February 19, 2026, he assumed office as caretaker Prime Minister. Prior to assuming the post of caretaker Prime Minister, he served as a Member of Parliament in the 47th, 48th, and 49th National Assemblies.
