Plamen Petkov, a prosecutor at the Sofia District Prosecution Office, has been nominated for election to Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) representing the prosecutors’ quota, the SJC said.
Petkov has more than 20 years of experience as an investigator, prosecutor and administrative head, giving him insight into the judicial system from different perspectives. His nominators described him as an independent and courageous magistrate prepared to stand by his principles and take responsibility for his views.
He was nominated by magistrates from the Sofia District Prosecution Office, who praised his courage to identify problems, defend his positions and take responsibility. They highlighted his strong legal expertise, precision and commitment to professional development, saying that as an SJC member he would ask difficult questions, demand clear rules and well-reasoned decisions, and maintain close communication with the magistrates who elected him.
