Meeting with students from Sofia University, who are taking the courses Political Rhetoric and Communication Skills, President Iliana Iotova said on Thursday that the EU needs reforms to return to its founders' vision of a prosperous Europe - to strengthen its production, competitiveness, and financial stability.

The students who participated come from various fields of study: philosophy, regional development, statistics, data analysis, software engineering, applied mathematics, and information systems, but share the common interest in the art of public speaking.

During the meeting, the students raised topics from Bulgaria’s domestic political agenda and the country’s foreign policy. Iotova said: "Bulgaria has long since chosen its path, and it is unequivocally within the EU - our country must defend its positions with confidence."

The students asked various questions during the meeting related to the preparation of the president's speeches, her work schedule and decision-making process.

The President shared her professional experience and added that, regardless of the position she holds, the most important thing is preparing for each individual event - researching its significance, understanding the audience, and identifying the most important message to convey to the people. "You have to believe in what you say, because we are the words we speak," Iotova said, adding that every message must sound personal.
