Europe Day is a symbol of peace, unity and shared European values, Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova said in a congratulatory letter to the foreign ministers of the European Union member states on the occasion of May 9 – Europe Day, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said here on Saturday.
“This is a day to pay tribute to the solidarity and cooperation of our continent in the name of the prosperity of our states and citizens,” Minister Petrova said.
She also stressed the importance of partnership and joint efforts in addressing the contemporary challenges facing Europe. Petrova noted that Bulgaria remains a responsible and predictable partner within the European family and is firmly committed to advancing common European priorities, including the protection of democratic values, strengthening security, and promoting sustainable development and prosperity for all European citizens.
In conclusion, the foreign minister expressed readiness for active and productive cooperation with EU partners for a “stronger, more resilient and future-oriented European Union.”
Earlier in the day, Europe Day was marked with the raising of the European Union flag in front of the presidential institution building.
