site.btaUPDATED MRF Pledges to Be Constructive Opposition, Insisting on Normal Dialogue
"We will be a constructive opposition, but the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) will insist on maintaining normal dialogue between political parties and institutions," said here on Tuesday MRF deputy floor leader Ayten Sabri during consultations with President Iliana Iotova regarding the handing of the first exploratory mandate to form a government.
"We will work for the rights and dignity of every Bulgarian citizen. For us, justice and honesty come first," Ayten Sabri said.
"A more difficult period lies ahead for Bulgaria, but we have stated that Bulgarian citizens have shown what they want from now on, and we respect their decision to place their trust in Progressive Bulgaria," she added.
Ayten Sabri noted that many things happened and some legal norms were violated during the elections. "We will try to uphold the rights of every Bulgarian citizen so that they can live with dignity in our homeland. We will continue our good partnership with our European partners and the United States, and we will support any policies for people - young families, the aging population, and our parents," she added.
"I assure you that MRF fully understands the message of the Bulgarian citizens and the significance of the coalition that won the elections - this is a new responsibility and a new reality," said Ayten Sabri, adding that accelerated economic development is a priority for her party. "We share the understanding that Bulgaria must have a strong voice in Europe. For us, following Bulgaria's Euro-Atlantic path and partnership with the United States remains an as unchanged priority," she said.
Responsible governance in the interest of the people means protecting the national interest and all Bulgarian citizens. "There is no higher priority for all of us than for the 52nd National Assembly to demonstrate a new style of political maturity and relations," she added, noting that MRF will participate constructively in all debates on key issues.
The MRF parliamentary group was the only one in the 51st National Assembly to propose two bills introducing caps on markups of basic food products and mechanisms to control unjustified price increases, said Atidzhe Alieva-Veli. She added that in order to achieve lasting price stability, it is necessary to strengthen the position of Bulgarian farmers and implement a state policy on irrigation.
Regarding the consequences of the wars in Iran and Ukraine, Alieva said she expects swift state intervention with measures to compensate affected sectors such as transport, energy, and agriculture.
Ivo Tsanev said that the vote of the Bulgarian people is a message for a strategic framework for Bulgaria’s future. Without increasing the standard of living and GDP, we cannot afford social policies, he added.
I will support everything that provides a better path for young people, their future, and their staying in the country instead of working or studying abroad, said Dzhem Yamenov.
