Expanding the variety of spa and wellness services, extending the tourist season, and developing specialized programmes for health improvement are among the priorities of the five-star Barceló Royal Beach in Sunny Beach, the hotel's General Manager Krasimira Mihova told BTA.

The hotel plans to expand partnerships with health and tourism organizations to attract a wider range of visitors and promote itself as a year-round destination.

Growing interest in wellness and spa tourism among both domestic and international visitors supports the sector's sustainable development at the resort., the hotel management said. Demand is rising for weekend relaxation getaways, as well as for extended programmes that blend leisure with health and wellness.

"There is a trend towards seeking balanced experiences that combine relaxation, wellness, and an active lifestyle, which motivates us to develop even more flexible and innovative services," Mihova added.

The Barceló Royal Beach features one of the largest spa centres in the region, which is open both to guests and outside visitors.

The centre offers a variety of massages – relaxing, therapeutic and aromatherapy, as well as detox and recovery programmes, anti-stress therapies and wellness packages. Facilities include an indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, hammam, jacuzzi and a modern fitness centre.

The highlights of the services are the tailored programmes and integrated face and body treatments.

The resort uses high-quality products from leading brands and makes full use of the natural benefits of the seaside climate, as it is located only 50 metres from the beach.

The hotel is part of the Barceló Hotel Group international chain and meets established international standards for quality and service. The complex attracts international tourists through tour operators and partner networks and has received numerous awards, including the Corendon Hotel of the Year Award 2024 and the Traveller Review Awards 2026, the management added.

BTA presents news from certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200. The initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is linked to Europe's leading health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, which will be held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts.
