There Is Such a People (TISP) showed a note served by Iran on Bulgaria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated March 18 concerning US tanker aircraft at Sofia Airport and asked whether the note is genuine. The parliamentary group issued declaration on the matter that was by Deputy Floor Leader Stanislav Balabanov at an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly on Wednesday.
He said that the Iranian Foreign Ministry note voiced strong protest against the deployment of US refuelling aircraft in the territory of Bulgaria and their use to support US air strikes against Iran and stressed the exercise of the inalienable right to self-defence as provided for in Article 51 of the UN Charter. "Iran reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security and national interests in accordance with international law," the TISP declaration reads.
"Is this note served on us by Iran genuine? If so, how is it possible that this illegitimate Gurov cabinet has concealed this information for two weeks," Balabanov asked. “Madam President Iotova, are you aware of this note?" he also asked.
The TISP MP said that they would ask for an appointment with the head of State later in the day. He also called for an urgent meeting of Parliament's Presiding Body to approach the Foreign Ministry for information.
