site.btaFree Tuberculosis Screening Available in Sofia Through March 27
Tuberculosis Open Door Week has begun as announced on the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate (SRHI) website. March 24 is observed internationally as World Tuberculosis Day.
Until March 27, 2026, the Cabinet for Anonymous, Free Counselling and Testing for HIV/AIDS will provide health information materials aimed at preventing tuberculosis, as well as free consultations on the methods of transmission of the disease, its symptoms, prevention options, and the importance of early diagnosis.
The initiative forms part of the implementation of the National Tuberculosis Control Programme in Bulgaria, with the aim of raising public awareness of the disease.
The SRHI is calling on citizens to take advantage of these consultation opportunities as part of the collective effort to limit the spread of tuberculosis.
The National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases states on its website that tuberculosis diagnostics, treatment and prevention are free for all who need them in Bulgaria, regardless of their health insurance status.
