site.btaTISP Leader Says Petrohan Killings Are Mafia-Style Execution

Appearing on TikTok, There Is Such a People (TISP) leader Slavi Trifonov said that “the mafia kills like this” of a case where three men were found shot in a lodge near the Petrohan Pass.

According to Trifonov, these are “mafia-style murders.” “This is an execution,” he added. “There is something here that the Bulgarian justice system and law enforcement authorities now need to determine exactly,” Trifonov stated.

Trifonov alleged that former Environment Minister Borislav Sandov gave the land to the non-profit organization (of which the three men were members) and that their activities have been sponsored by Mayor Vasil Terziev. Both Sandov and Terziev are associated with Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria. Trifonov said: “Both Sandov and Terziev must answer. Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria must answer what they are they doing there.”

Borislav Sandov urged that alerts by the nonprofit organization be made public to identify a possible motive for revenge.

The three bodies were found on February 2 and the police is searching for Ivaylo Kalushev, founder of the organization and a suspect in the murders. However on Wednesday, Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov said that the authorities do not rule out a possibility that he may also no longer be alive, as he had sent a message to his mother indicating that he had attempted to take his own life.

Denyo Denev, Chair of the State Agency National Security (SANS) said that two years ago, SANS conducted an investigation based on a citizen’s report regarding the activities of a non-governmental organization linked to the case. During the investigation, evidence of a crime was found, and the results of the check were sent to the prosecution, he added. “The report contains allegations of sexual abuse of minors and underage individuals, paramilitary structures that had settled on the territory of the lodge in question,” Denev said.
