site.btaUPDATED CC-DB Calls for Election Code Amendments, Full Machine Voting and Ousting "Illegal Prosecutor General"
Speaking in Parliament here on Wednesday on behalf of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) Parliamentary Group, CC-DB co-Floor Leader Nikolay Denkov said the urgent tasks for the remainder of this Parliament include preparing fair elections with changes to the Election Code, 100% machine voting with machine-generated tally sheets, mass participation and strong civic oversight to prevent electoral fraud, and the immediate removal of the illegal Prosecutor General.
MPs opened the new plenary session earlier in the day.
Denkov added that it is time to clearly define a new national goal, "one that can unite the country in the coming years and determine the kind of Bulgaria in which we and our children want to live".
He said Bulgaria has entered a new stage of development following its accession to the eurozone and the nationwide “No” against the “criminal regime, lies, repression, extortion and dictatorship.” He added that it is up to the country to seize this historic opportunity, embrace European values, and avoid serving the interests of a small group of people.
CC-DB outlined a new national goal of building a wealthy, just and European Bulgaria. Denkov highlighted several priorities.
Justice and rule of law: Full transparency, accountability and responsibility across the judiciary; sanctions and investigations for magistrates who violate ethical norms; politically neutral appointments to the Supreme Judicial Council and its Inspectorate; and limits on prolonged pre-trial detention, except in the most serious criminal cases.
Competitive economy: Priority training of skilled employees, adoption of advanced technologies, completion of highways and new transport corridors, reduction of ministries by a third, zero bureaucracy, fully electronic and remote services for citizens and businesses, preserved tax and social contribution rates, fiscal discipline with a 3% deficit and 40% redistribution.
Education: Free, high-quality education for every child through modernised teaching and assessment methods, personalised learning supported by AI, and expanded extracurricular programmes to provide access to sports, technology, arts, languages and sciences.
Demographics and social policy: Special support for young families, doubling child tax relief to at least EUR 500, pensions following the Swiss rule, targeted social assistance for those in need, and accelerated convergence with EU average incomes.
Healthcare: Patient-focused care rather one focused on hospital directors and "their politician masters"; quality treatment within an hour’s reach for everyone; fair pay and career progression for all medical staff; focus on a national children’s hospital; and the end of false hospitalisations and unnecessary procedures.
Security: Improving the attractiveness of military service and continued modernisation of the Bulgarian Army.
“These measures can unite the country and lay the foundation for a new social contract for Bulgaria,” Denkov said, adding that CC-DB will seek cross-party consensus through public consultations in the coming weeks.
On foreign policy, he stressed the need for clear positions defending Bulgaria’s national interests while strengthening both the country and the EU. “This is the guarantee for our security, international success and freedom in today’s dynamic world,” he added.
