Support for Ukraine must continue, said on Tuesday Juris Poikans, Special Envoy, Special Envoy for Ukraine Reconstruction and Baltic Sea Region and Zlatin Krastev, Cyber Ambassador at Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry. The two participated in a conference titled “Defence and Democracy Dialogue: Fortifying Freedom” in Sofia. The event was organized by the Center for the Study of Democracy.
“Every day in Ukraine is a struggle and a battle,” said Krastev. “We cannot stop or reduce the level of support. In fact, we must increase it so that they can survive and win — to bring peace and prosperity to this part of the world,” the expert commented.
“When we look at the short-term priorities, one of them is to support Ukraine militarily, and we are doing that both bilaterally and through joint initiatives, because the war continues and the situation on the battlefield is extremely difficult,” commented Juris Poikans.
“That is why it is critically important to provide military assistance. The second goal is also extremely important — to provide financial support to Ukraine, because it is highly financially dependent on the European Union and international donors in order to continue functioning,” Poikans added.
