Water samples from several spots in the flood-hit Elenite resort have shown deviations from the standards for quality of drinking water, the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) – Burgas announced on its website Wednesday.

Control sampling was carried out on October 27 and 29 from the central water supply network and several spots in the resort, including hotels and a grocery store. The results show that the water in some of the spots does not meet the microbiological standards, as well as for the taste standard.

According to RHI-Burgas, the reason for the deviation from the quality standards is the condition of the internal water distribution system.

RHI Burgas said that the municipal water company does not manage the water mains in the territory of resort. The water supply system there was built by private investors and the Burgas water company is not responsible for the maintenance and management of the water supply system in gated communities and private properties: the manager of the resort is.

Control testing of the water in Elenite will continue until the beginning of the summer season next year.

Control sampling of the drinking water in Elenite began after the heavy rainfall on October 3, 2025, which caused a deadly flood. Four people died in the disaster. The flood caused damage to a large part of the buildings, bridges, and roads.
