Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has met with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in Muscat, where they discussed the situation in Gaza and bilateral relations, the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications reported.

Erdogan is currently on a tour of the Persian Gulf that includes visits to Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman. 

The Turkish President and Oman's Sultan discussed regional and international issues, with a focus on developments in Gaza, trade and economic exchange, and cooperation in the defence industry.

Erdogan noted that the friendship between Turkiye and Oman has historical roots, expressing hope that mutual support between the two countries will grow even stronger after this meeting, according to the official statement released by the Directorate of Communications.

Erdogan expressed his readiness to develop relations with Oman across various fields, including the economy, defence, and industry.

"President Erdogan said that Turkiye and Oman share common positions on several issues, foremost among them the resolution of the Palestinian question. He praised Oman’s efforts in promoting mediation and dialogue in the region and noted that both countries will work together toward resolving the situation in Gaza based on the recognition of two independent states," the statement further reads.

During their meetings, representatives of the two delegations signed 16 bilateral agreements.
