Meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkiye’s National Security Council issued a statement expressing concern over signs of escalating tensions in the war between Ukraine and Russia. The statement, released by the Republic of Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications, reiterated Turkiye’s readiness to offer any form of support that could contribute to a lasting peace between Kyiv and Moscow.

The National Security Council was presented with a report on counterterrorism efforts both within Turkiye and abroad, as well as on threats to national unity posed by organizations such as FETO, ISIS, and the PKK.

The Council also discussed PKK's disarmament plan, expressing hope that it would lead to more decisive steps towards national unity and stability.

Members reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to eliminating the FETO terrorist network.

The Council stressed that Turkiye will maintain its support for Syria’s path towards stability and unity. It was adamant that any attempts at plunging Syria into chaos and undermining its sovereignty will be prevented.

The Council also discussed the implications of the Israel-Iran conflict, warning against regional destabilization.

As to the situation in the Gaza Strip, the Council reaffirmed its stance that Israel is violating international law and committing acts of genocide, thereby continuing to drive the region towards disaster, following what has been done in the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and even within Israel itself.
