site.btaTurkish Museums Open at Night to Use Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources

Museums that are open to visitors at night will now use lighting powered by their own renewable energy sources, Turkiye's Ministry of Culture announced.

The first example is the system installed at the ancient theatre in Tlos, located in Mugla Province in western Turkiye. A solar power plant will generate electricity to illuminate the theatre at night.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy described the initiative as an example of how renewable energy can be used at historical sites. He stressed that the power plant was built after the restoration of the ancient theatre was completed.

The Ministry of Culture plans to implement the model at other tourist sites as well, contributing to the development of museums and cultural tourism.
