Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's left-wing nationalist Self-Determination Movement (LVV) won 45% support in Sunday's snap parliamentary elections, according to the first exit poll cited by the Ekonomia Online news agency.
The UBO exit poll gave second place to the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), led by Bedri Hamza, with 22.0% of the vote. The centre-right Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) of Lumir Abdixhiku is third with 15.6% of the vote. The right-wing Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), led by former prime minister Ramush Haradinaj, was ranked fourth on 5.3%.
All four party leaders are their parties' candidates for prime minister.
Kosovo's Central Election Commission Chairman, Kreshnik Radoniqi, said there were no incidents affecting the integrity or smooth running of Sunday’s vote. Preliminary figures at 7 pm, when polling stations closed, showed 819,890 ballots cast, representing 44.56% of registered voters.
Regarding earlier reports of electricity issues at some polling stations, Radoniqi stated that in the final hours of voting there were three additional reports of power outages in Rahovec (Orahovac), Dragash and Hani i Elezit (Elez Han), which were quickly resolved by the electricity company.
According to Kosovo's Central Election Commission (CEC), a total of 2,076,290 Kosovo citizens are eligible to vote. Of them, 1,999,204 are registered voters in Kosovo, while 77,086 are registered to vote abroad, either at diplomatic missions or by mail.
These are the second parliamentary elections in 2025. The February 9 elections resulted in an institutional and political deadlock, leaving the country without a government. The election campaign for the snap vote began on December 17 and ended on December 27, as Election Day itself serves as a day of reflection.
