World Refugee Day (since 2001, declared by UN General Assembly resolution on December 4, 2000).

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1954: First bridge over the Danube River linking Ruse in Bulgaria and Giurgiu in Romania is inaugurated.

1963: Diplomatic relations with Austria (established in May 1919, suspended April 1, 1938, re-established at legation level March 7, 1947) are upgraded to embassy level.

1975: Diplomatic relations are established with Mauritius.

1999: VMRO - Bulgarian National Movement Party is established.

The world:

- Make Music Day.

On this date in Bulgarian history:

1990: Working People's Party, established April 25, 1990, is renamed Bulgarian Communist Party.

1999: Bulgaria accepts NATO's proposal to sign agreement allowing transit to Allied forces and equipment for Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo.

2000: Bulgaria's Parliament ratifies ILO Convention C182 concerning the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour.
