On this date in Bulgarian history:

  • 1900: First issue of "Tsurkoven Vestnik" [Church Gazette] of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church comes out.
  • 1909: Serbia and Montenegro recognize Bulgaria's independence.
  • 1933: St Nedelya Cathedral in Sofia is reconsecrated following reconstruction, after a bombing attack on April 16, 1925 badly damaged the building, killing over 150 and injuring 500 people. 
  • 1957: Aleko Konstantinov Theatre of Satire is established.
  • 1989: Military Medical Academy with the Defence Ministry is established.
  • 2004: The largest imaging centre in the Balkans opens at the Military Medical Academy.
