October 19 is marked as National Doctors' Day in Bulgaria. Health Minister Silvi Kirilov posted an address to physicians on Facebook, saying: "Today we honour not only our profession, but also the exceptional humanity, morality and self-sacrifice that lie behind it."

Kirilov also said: "Your professionalism, high level of expertise and commitment to self-improvement have stood the test of time. Thanks to these qualities, Bulgaria has produced a number of internationally recognized doctors and scientists who will remain forever in the history of global medicine."

The Health Minister stressed that he will continue working to improve the professional environment and maintain the high public standing of the medical profession. He wished doctors happiness, professional success and the recognition "they fully deserve".
