Russian drones attacked civilian infrastructure in the Odesa Region on Thursday, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said on Telegram.
Despite the active work of the air defence, a transport infrastructure facility was damaged, a worker was injured and received medical treatment, and another person was wounded when the roof and windows of his house were damaged, Kiper said.
He said power outages were reported in parts of the region. By morning, energy crews had restored supply from various sources wherever technically possible. Currently, 11,300 people have electricity, while 46,600 remain without power. Repair works are ongoing, Kiper added.
The Odesa emergency services continue recovery operations. According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Development, a Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) depot in Odesa was targeted in the drone attack. A train driver was wounded by shrapnel and has received medical treatment.
The Bulgarian community in the Odesa Region numbers over 150,000 people, making it the third largest ethnic group according to the most recent official census in Ukraine. In the city of Odesa itself, between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians reside. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
