Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) expects to submit a motion of no confidence with Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) on "the failure in internal order and security, justice, and the captured state" after collecting enough signatures, MECh Chair Radostin Vasilev told journalists in Parliament on Friday.

“I expect this to be the first vote supported by the entire opposition in Parliament and to be accompanied by the most meaningful and lasting debate,” Vasilev said.

He explained that the motion submitted by the two parliamentary groups will also be supported by several MPs from the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. “We will not seek other signatures, since they did not participate in preparing the motion,” he added.

The reasons for the vote are linked to the governance of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, Vasilev claimed. “The justice system suffers from huge deficits that lead to the absence of rule of law in Bulgaria,” the MP noted. He noted that the arguments in the no-confidence motion are divided between MECh and CC–DB. “We are responsible for the issues related to internal order and security, while CC–DB cover the justice sector,” he said.

“I do not expect this vote to cause the Government’s collapse and fall, but I do expect us to have enough time to talk about what is happening in the country, because Daniel Mitov is hiding and does not attend hearings,” emphasised Vasilev.
