site.btaCabinet Approves Draft Agreement on Enhanced EU-Uzbekistan Partnership, Cooperation

The Council of Ministers adopted a decision approving a draft agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between the EU and its Member States, on the one hand, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the other hand, the Government information service reported here Wednesday.
The new-generation agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation will replace the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan, in force since July 1, 1999, and will build on the achievements of the previous one, providing a new, up-to-date, and more ambitious legal framework for future partnership, in line with developments and changes both in the country and at the regional and global levels.
The agreement represents an important step towards strengthening the EU's political and economic engagement with the countries of Central Asia. It will also provide the basis for more effective bilateral engagement between the EU and Uzbekistan, strengthen political dialogue and economic interaction, and enhance cooperation in a wide range of areas, including through initiatives such as the EU Global Gateway and the European Green Deal.
