The Bulgarian Government will propose a programme for children from Taraclia, a kind of Bulgarian Erasmus, so that they can get to know Bulgaria, said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in the city of Taraclia, Moldova on Sunday. Zhelyazkov and his Moldovan counterpart Dorin Recean held a meeting with Taraclia District President Lazar Dermenzhi and mayors of towns with Bulgarian ethnic populations.
The aim of this program will be for between 200 and 400 children of Bulgarian ethnicity to visit the country each year to learn about Bulgarian traditions and history and to improve their knowledge and skills in communicating in Bulgarian, explained the Bulgarian Prime Minister.
"We carry wisdom in our DNA, and you are a shining example of how Bulgarian spirit does not fade away, but rather we fight for a better life. We think about the future of our children. The opening of the branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse in Taraclia is such a step," Zhelyazkov emphasized. According to him, the university has included specialties of the future in its training programs. “Education is the foundation of a successful and peaceful life, and democracy is the only prerequisite for peace,” he said.
The Prime Minister told the mayors of the Taraclia region that the issues that concern them overlap with those of their Bulgarian colleagues, namely infrastructure and the future of children. During the talks between the Bulgarian and Moldovan Prime Ministers, the issue of improving infrastructure in areas populated by ethnic Bulgarians was also discussed, with the Moldovan government committing to making efforts in this regard.
Mayors of Moldovan villages with a predominantly Bulgarian ethnic population thanked Zhelyazkov for the assistance provided by the Bulgarian State. The discussion focused on the problems faced by local people. They noted that they work well with local authorities and solve community problems together, the Council of Ministers reported.
Zhelyazkov and Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev are scheduled to visit the branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse in the town. A ceremony will be held at the University to sign an agreement to transfer ownership of the premises of the former Taraclia University to the branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse in Taraclia.
Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov is on a two-day visit to the country.
