Four state institutions announced Monday a large-scale audit of hospitals: public and private alike. Announced by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) on Monday, the audit will include NHIF itself, the State Agency for National Security, the Medical Supervision Agency and the Agency for State Financial Inspection.
These will be extraordinary and comprehensive audits of the work that hospitals have reported and that they have claimed payments for.
The first stage of the audit will cover six Sofia hospitals: two private, two state-owned and two restricted access hospitals providing services only to employees of certain state institutions.
A total of 41 hospitals will be audited, picked on the basis of objective criteria, which will be announced only after the auditors finish their work.
The public will be notified of the audit findings.
