site.btaCentral Bank Puts into Circulation Silver Commemorative Coin Dedicated to Writer Ivan Vazov's 175th Birth Anniversary


On June 7, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) puts into circulation a silver commemorative coin for the 175th birth anniversary of writer Ivan Vazov, the central bank said on its website on Friday. The coin is from the Bulgarian Revival series and will cost BGN 168 upon launch. The coin has a face value of BGN 10 and a mintage of 4,000.
Depicted on the obverse side of the coin are the emblem of the BNB with the year “1879” on the strip and below it, a stylized open book. Around it are the inscriptions “Bulgarian National Bank”, the year of issue and the face value.
The reverse side of the coin depicts Ivan Vazov and the inscription “175 years since the birth of Ivan Vazov”, a laurel wreath and a book in the shape of a lyre.
The coin will initially be sold at the BNB only. Each customer will be able to buy only one coin from the central bank's cash desks provided they are 18 years of age or older.
By the end of the working day on July 7, the new coin will be provided by the BNB to Investbank, First Investment Bank, Texim Bank, Tokuda Bank and Central Cooperative Bank.
