Gendarmerie police forces will participate in maintaining public order during the upcoming tourist season, the Interior Ministry's General Directorate Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism told BTA.

Uniformed officers from Varna and Burgas will be part of the security presence along the Black Sea coast. Gendarmerie teams will assist their colleagues from the General Directorate Border Police at Bulgaria's two major airports in the coastal cities of Varna and Burgas.

In Varna, patrols began on May 1, while in Burgas they will start on June 1.

The necessary equipment has been provided. In parallel, additional forces are planned to help maintain public order and security in the settlements along the Southern Black Sea coast.
