Deputy PM Zafirov: Contracts for Replacement of Solid Fuel Heating Appliances Signed for over BGN 600 Mln

Under the Programme Environment, the state supports municipalities for the replacement of solid fuel heating appliances, and 21 contracts worth BGN 602 million have already been signed. This is what Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov said during the report on the implementation of the governance programme of the cabinet so far.

In his words, the installation and replacement of the appliances in the municipalities of Plovdiv and Dimitrovgrad has already started.

The National Air Pollution Control Programme has been drafted and updated, and a draft bill amending and supplementing the Clean Air Act has been approved by the Council of Ministers.

In addition to the objective of sustainable waste management, 18 project proposals for the construction, expansion or upgrade of municipal and regional systems for separate collection and recycling of biodegradable waste are currently being evaluated, and 10 contracts for the reclamation of regional municipal waste landfills have been concluded for a total of BGN 22 million. Progress has been made on projects in the municipalities of Troyan and Harmanli, Zafirov added.

In connection with the problem of ensuring sufficient water for irrigation purposes, a draft bill to amend the Act on Waters has been prepared, which provides a preferential regime to water resources and water abstraction from municipally owned dams and water abstraction from the Danube River for irrigation needs, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov said.
