National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova held talks with representatives of the Jewish community in Bulgaria on the occasion of Passover, Parliament's press office said on Wednesday.
Kiselova wished all representatives of the Jewish community in Bulgaria health, happiness and well-being.
“It is important to know and accept the customs and traditions of different faiths because they are an expression of our respect for the different. The understanding we show towards each other helps us to be united and work together for the better future of Bulgaria,” she added.
The Jewish community presented Kiselova with the symbols of Pesach - matzah (unleavened bread) and kosher wine. They told the history of the holiday and how it is marked.
The President of the Shalom Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria, Dr. Alina Levi, expressed her gratitude to the National Assembly and personally to the Parliament Chair for their attitude towards the representatives of the Jewish community in Bulgaria and for their efforts to fight hate speech.
The representatives of the Jewish community extended their warm wishes to Kiselova and all the MPs on the occasion of the upcoming Easter.
