On this date in Bulgarian history:

1900: Bulgaria's first electric power station goes into operation in Pancharevo. Beginning of electrification in Bulgaria.

1944: Svetoslav Obretenov Bulgarian A Cappella Choir established as State Choir with Radio Sofia.

1957: School theatre unveiled for students of Bulgarian State Higher School of Theater (renamed Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theater and Film Arts on July 21, 1995).

1974: Diplomatic relations established with Liberia.

1991: American University in Bulgaria inaugurated in Blagoevgrad.

2011: Last Bulgarian submarine, "Slava", is formally decommissioned.
