Politicians, business executives, NGO representatives, members of the academic community and the media and other stakeholders will discuss "Resilient and Efficient Energy for a Future-proof and Secure Economy" at a high-level conference in Sofia on Monday.

The event is organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in partnership with Veolia Bulgaria.

The objective of the forum is to build on the European Economic Security Strategy towards forward-looking strategic planning based on the assessment of threats, risks and vulnerabilities. In this respect, the focus will be on energy supply at stable, predictable and affordable prices which comes from sustainable sources, as a cornerstone for European industrial competitiveness.

The agenda of the conference includes current trends in EU legislation and energy solutions enabling business to be more efficient and less carbon intensive, as well as combing the production of energy from renewable sources with sustainable storage systems as a way of ensuring a steady energy supply.

Invited participants include caretaker Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov, Deputy Energy Minister Iva Petrova, parliamentary Energy Committee Chair Delyan Dobrev, Electricity System Operator Executive Director Angelin Tsachev, Energy and Water Regulatory Commission Chair Ivan Ivanov, Bulgarian Development Bank CEO Tsanko Arabadzhiev, National Electric Company CEO Martin Georgiev, EESC Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) President Pietro Francesco De Lotto, EESC Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN) President Baiba Miltovica, and EESC rapporteur Andrea Mone.
