Outgoing Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told journalists on Monday, after the government-forming consultations between Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and President Rumen Radev, that CC-DB expects an agreement to be reached for the realization of the first government-forming mandate. If such an agreement is not reached, that possibly means new snap parliamentary elections, he added.

Denkov noted that there is still work to be done on the negotiations and that the legislative programme, on which work has not started, needs to be specified. There is a first version of the list, separately the governance programme, which needs to be updated, and of course the composition of the Council of Ministers. The negotiations during the weekend were constructive, they should continue with the same vigor, Denkov said.

He added that the negotiations should continue as quickly as possible.

In response to a question Denkov said that CC-DB has assured the President that they want the rotation of prime ministers to happen, and that if there is no agreement, the party is ready to go to elections, which Denkov noted was not a good option, but it may be the only one so that reforms continue.
