GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Delyan Peevski have proposed drastic measures to address the security crisis related to migrants, the MRF press centre reported.  The news was also published on GERB's Facebook page.

GERB and MRF submitted to Parliament proposals for amendments to the Interior Ministry Act and the Administration Act, which include increasing the capacity of the border police by 1,264 staff for protection of refugee centres and strengthening border security. These numbers are needed to ensure the normal operation of all structural units.

The amendments also provide for mobilizing the police forces to ensure security and peace and respect for public order in the country, the security of citizens, their health and property. These are the most decisive, but also the fairest, measures taken with regard to people's security in connection with migrant flows.

MRF and GERB insist on the urgent adoption of the legislative changes by the National Assembly and their immediate implementation by the authorities. Security stands higher than any personal or partisan interest, the parties write.

On Sunday, outgoing Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said that there are already detainees in recent incidents with foreigners in the capital. It has been established there is no question of racial tension, Stoyanov said and urged no to use these cases for political purposes.
