An exhibition marks the 80th anniversary of Bulgarian painter Emil Nikolov. From March 18 to April 5, Sofia Press Gallery-Bookstore will display his works from the last ten years.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Nikolov created over 20 mural paintings depicting various architectural sites in Bulgaria, said the organisers from the Union of Bulgarian Artists and Sofia Press Gallery-Bookstore. After that twenty-year period to present day, he works mostly in the field of easel paintings.
Nikolov was born in the northwestern village of Rakevo in January 1944. He graduated from the Secondary School of Art in Sofia and obtained a degree in decorative and monumental art from the National Academy of Art in 1972. In 2005, he became a professor in painting at the Academy, where he worked until his retirement in 2013.
