site.btaLandslide Buries Gold Miners in Eastern Turkey

Miners have been buried in a landslide at a gold mine in Erzincan county (eastern Turkiye) on Tuesday, Turkish CNN Türk television reported.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. EET) in the Eski Degirmen area.

The exact number of trapped miners is not known yet, but Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that 9 out of 667 workers in the mine are missing.

Some 400 rescue workers are searching for the missing miners.

The mine has been operational since 2010.
