Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer is paying an official visit to Turkiye on October 9 and 10 at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to a statement by the Turkish Communications Directorate published on the Directorate's account on the social media network X.

During the talks, bilateral relations between Turkiye and Austria will be examined and steps that can be taken to further develop them will be discussed. Current international and regional issues will be discussed, the statement said.

Among the issues expected to be discussed during Nehammer's visit to Ankara are the prospects for its accession to the European Union.
