site.btaInterior Minister to Visit Türkiye for Talks on Border Security and Migration

Bulgarian Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov is expected to visit Türkiye on October 10 for talks on border security and migration, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Wednesday, as quoted by Haberler.com. Yerlikaya was speaking to journalists in Ankara after a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Complex earlier in the day.

He recalled that he and Stoyanov discussed these matters by telephone last week.

Yerlikaya said: "We maintain strong cooperation with the governors of Kırklareli and Edirne and with the Bulgarian minister of interior and the Greek minister of migration and asylum. The coastguard services of our countries are also discussing these issues. When land borders are safe, the migrant flow turns to the sea. We will therefore step up our cooperation at sea."

Kırklareli and Edirne are the two Turkish provinces bordering Bulgaria.
