An installation featuring Sofia's most recognisable symbols will greet arrivals at Sofia Airport Terminal 2. It includes 30 sites of the most characteristic symbols of old, young and green Sofia, and was created by the #soSofia platform on the occasion of Sofia Day - September 17, the organisers said.

The large-scale interactive installation will welcome guests with the greeting #soWelcometoSofia and will promote the most characteristic symbols of the city, representing its antiquity, modernity and nature," says the imp-act agency.

The included sites were selected through a special survey conducted on the #soSofia platform with the participation of students from the Department of Sociology at the St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, which aimed to determine which attractions of the city citizens recognize and recommend to foreign visitors.

The team says that the Old Sofia landmarks include the Largo and the Serdica Roman Complex, the National Gallery, and the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Young Sofia images include downtown Sofia, the Palace of Culture, the parks in front of the National Theatre and the Crystal Café, as well as the Prince's Garden, shops and restaurants. Green Sofia comes in with chalets on Mt Vitosha, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences's Botanic Garden, the Vrana Park and that of the Military Academy.
