Illustration, animation, interactive design, urban and graphic art will be presented on 23 and 24 September 23 and 24 in the programme of the Pictoplasma x Bulgaria forum in Varna, the organizers of the StandArt association announced.  The audience will learn what "character" design is in its various artistic manifestations and will be able to experiment together with the participants in workshops for patchwork and embroidery, illustration, street art, paper toy making and animation. The event will take place at the ReBonkers Cultural Centre.

On the first day, Nikola Radulovic, who has been twice to the Pictoplasma Festival in Berlin, will be the guest speaker. He will show his animated creatures and experimental digital worlds. The process of creation in a 3D environment will be explained by Yunal Zobu from Chaos, one of the world's leading 3D visualisation companies, who has many years of experience in computer graphics, the organisers say. Scenographer Rin Yamamura will immerse the forum guests in the magic of theatre and street art, with Varna visual artist Kaloyan Iliev - Kokimoto will talk about the characters of his paintings, objects and installations.

The director Ivan Popov - Rabbit, who has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of animation, advertising, video installations and visual effects, will also participate in the forum. The first day will end with a lecture by Alina Papazova, who works with ceramics and illustration.

The programme of Pictoplasma on the second day includes four workshops where participants will be able to work on their own characters with different techniques and materials. With them will be Tsvetana Nedeva, who will lead classes on making moving paper toys and stop motion animation, Ina Valentinova, who will help those who want to make patchwork and embroidery, and Kaloyan Iliev - Kokimoto, with whom participants will be able to design their own character or visual artwork.

The forum will also feature Victoria Georgieva - The Mouse, known for her contemporary murals and street art interventions in urban environments. In her action "Ah, the sea" she will tell more about street art and will help the participants to create posters as part of a collective work that will decorate the streets of Varna, the organizers say.

Pictoplasma x Bulgaria 2023 is organized with the financial support of the National Culture Fund and the Municipality of Varna. The event will also have a special extension in Sofia, where UniCredit Studio will host an exhibition from October 2 to 13.
