Bulgaria and India will resume the exchange of university students, the Ministry of Education and Science said in the wake of Friday's meeting between Education Minister Galin Tzokov, Deputy Education Minister Genka Petrova and Indian Ambassador here Sanjay Rana.

Cooperation between Indian and Bulgarian universities, between research institutes, as well as the opportunities for exchange of lecturers between the two countries were among the priorities mentioned by Tzokov.

It also emerged during the meeting that Bulgaria and India are preparing two cooperation agreements - in the field of education and culture and in the field of science and technology.

The two countries enjoyed very successful cooperation in both areas for years, but that was interrupted during the pandemic, Ambassador Rana said. Both should now make every effort to resume educational exchanges, he added. An agreement on cooperation in the fields of education, culture and the arts is to be signed between the foreign ministries of the two countries. It incorporates the proposals of the Ministry of Education, including that of annual exchange of students, the Indian Ambassador said.

A total of 15 research projects have been implemented since the opportunity for cooperation between Bulgarian and Indian scientists was created in 2019, the Ministry said. According to them, India is now keen to add new areas of collaborative scientific activities such as smart technology, agriculture, smart manufacturing, and blockchain technology, among others.
