A strike by railway workers seriously disrupted traffic in the city of Izmir, western Turkiye, on Monday morning, Turkish media reported.
The city's metro and trams are not running.
Members of the Turkish Railwaymen's Union are on strike as they cannot agree on eleven points of negotiations for a new collective labour agreement, state-run TRT-Haber television reported.
“Having been unable to find an answer to our just demands, we have decided to declare a strike,” the chairman of the Izmir branch of the Turkish Railway Workers' Union told reporters.
He pointed out that the strike would continue throughout the day.
