A performance of the opera "The Flying Dutchman" will close the Wagner Festival of the Sofia Opera on Sunday night, organizers said. The finale of the festival will be on the stage by the Pancharevo lake.

Sofia Opera Wagner Festival is dedicated to the 210th birth anniversary of Richard Wagner.

The staging is by Plamen Kartalov with Rossen Gergov as conductor.

The 2023 programme included all seven titles in the repertoire of the National Opera. The celebrations began with the tetralogy "The Ring of the Nibelung" and continued with performances of "Tristan and Isolde" and "Percival", directed by Plamen Kartalov and conducted by Constanin Trinks.

"These performances attracted the interest of many Bulgarian admirers of the German maestro's music, as well as musical pilgrims from all over the world, who specially came to Sofia for the festive evenings. Prestigious international specialist publications sent journalists to cover the event, and the feedback we are already receiving is more than enthusiastic," the Opera said.
