To achieve the green transformation, we need to focus on technologies and industries where the EU already has a strategic advantage in terms of expertise and research, said Tsvetelina Penkova, MEP from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, on the new regulatory framework for the European zero net emission industry, for which she is the rapporteur. "In my view, at the moment, in the energy sector, these are technologies for generating electricity from wind power, hydrogen and nuclear power", she added. "If we focus on these as a priority, I do not see any obstacles to reaching the 40% target even earlier than 2030".

The MEP believes that digital policies are among the EU's top priorities and aim to boost Europe's competitiveness in the technological sphere, increase opportunities for business and industry, develop citizens' digital skills and support the green transition.
