Three men were detained late in the night during a Traffic Police team check in the vicinity of Veliko Tarnovo, North Central Bulgaria. They were driving seven illegal migrants, the Interior Ministry Regional Directorate said Wednesday.

The two cars in which the migrants were travelling had crossed over through the Republic Pass and were detained near a gas station at the entry of Veliko Tarnovo.

Five of the migrants are Syrians, including a boy and girl minors, one is a Palestinian and one – an Iraqi. One of the drivers fled the scene. His identity was established and he was declared wanted. The other driver and his companion were detained for 24 hours. All three are residents of Glogovo village, near Teteven. Pre-trial proceedings against them have been launched.
