Banat Bulgarians took part in the Embargo Festival in Timisoara. The fourth edition of the multicultural fest was held at the Banatean Village Museum in the Romanian city as part of the Timisoara European Capital of Culture 2023 programme.

Groups and dance ensembles from Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia performed on two open stages under the motto "Music of the 90s". At the invitation of the organizers the concert programme on June 10 (Saturday) opened with Bulgarian folk dances.

"The dance ensembles "Brest" from Bresca, "Ruchenica" from Star Bisnov and "Slavyak" from Timisoara performed on one of the stages. For more than half an hour the Banatean Village Museum and Embargo Fest resounded with the sounds and rhythms of Bulgarian folklore," Elena Doycheva-Dragomir, who is the head of "Ruchenitsa" and responsible for cultural issues in the Union of Banat Bulgarians, told BTA.

Along with the children from the dance groups, Duo Expose from Bulgaria were also special guests.

This project was implemented with the support of the Union of the Banat Bulgarians in Romania together with Bulgaria's Honorary Consul in Timisoara and member of Romania's Chamber of Deputies representing the Bulgarian national minority, Gheorghe Nacov.
