"There will be no GERB ministers as GERB ministers in the cabinet," Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) prime minister designate Nikolay Denkov told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday.

Representatives of the two largest parliamentary groups, GERB-UDF and CC-DB, are discussing, among other things, the line-up of a prospective Council of Ministers.

The negotiators include Denkov and Mariya Gabriel, who was the GERB-UDF prime minister designate but returned the first cabinet-forming mandate unfulfilled on May 22. The participants in the talks also include GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Continue the Change co-leaders Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev.

Earlier in the day, Denkov said he expected to see Gabriel and that the talks must continue, and Gabriel assured the media that the talks with CC-DB were underway.

President Rumen Radev handed Denkov the second cabinet-forming mandate to Denkov on May 29.

Asked whether CC-DB are willing to agree with GERB on forming an expert cabinet, Denkov explained that the point of departure was the initial line-up. Pressed to say whether GERB-nominated experts were being considered, he answered that expert nominations were welcome from all. "The point is which are the best for the positions," he stressed. The PM designate declined to say whether CC Co-chair Assen Vassilev will not be a minister of finance - a portfolio he was assigned in the original version of a Denkov cabinet.

Denkov explained that the current negotiations were about ensuring that there would be no problems with the administration, on which a relevant document was being drafted so that everybody would be reassured, and about the line-up.

"We continue to work, there is a lot to do, allow us some time," the academician asked the media. "If we were not constructive, we would have talked for three hours," he added.
