A bill to amend and supplement the Bulgarian Personal Documents Act was adopted by the MPs on first reading Wednesday. The amendments were introduced by the Council of Ministers.
The explanatory memorandum states that the need to amend and supplement the Act stems from the need to facilitate citizens in the provision of services related to the issuance of a driving licence.
It has been established that it is possible to abolish the obligation to apply for a new driving licence when a person's permanent or current address changes, as the address data can be verified electronically in real time. To reduce the collection of personal data in connection with the administrative services provided without there being a real need for it, a corresponding provision is also laid down in the law.
