Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev met Saturday with prosecutors from the Appellate, District and District Prosecutor's Offices in Burgas and investigators from the District Investigation Department in the city, with whom he held a working meeting. In front of the magistrates, the he spoke out against attempts to interfere with the work of the independent judiciary.

Geshev stressed that the prosecution magistracy  is united and will continue to observe the principle that the independence of the judiciary is the most secure and stable foundation on which the rule of law is built, quoted by the press office of the prosecution service. 

Geshev pointed out that attempts to interfere in the judiciary threaten European values, as well as the established legal order in the country. The Prosecutor General called on the prosecutors and investigators from the Burgas appellate district to fulfill their official duties conscientiously and in accordance with the law.

Those present at the work meeting were adamant that they would not allow any external influence and interference in their work.
