site.btaBGN 2 Mln-Plus Allocated for Nurseries, Kindergartens, Schools Construction, Repairs

The government Tuesday approved BGN 2,180,623 in financing under a programme for construction, extension and renovation of nurseries, kindergartens and schools in 2020-2022. The funds will be used to pay for project implementation in nine municipalities.

The programme aims to improve the facilities that guarantee healthy and quality learning conditions in the pre-school and school education system. It also targets the construction of new buildings, extension and renovation of nurseries, kindergartens and schools. In this way, the shortage of available places in them will be reduced and it will be possible to introduce compulsory pre-school education for children over 4 years of age. 

The caretaker government also approved BGN 775,862 in additional transfers to the budgets of municipalities to compensate for the costs for March for the education and training of children who are not enrolled, due to lack of places, in municipal nurseries and nursery groups in state and municipal kindergartens. The additional transfers will be paid from the central government budget.
