GERB leader Boyko Borissov commented on the proposal to have Nikolay Denkov and Mariya Gabriel serve as prime ministers on a rotational basis, saying that this is an instance of responsibility and not of coalition. Borissov, who spoke to reporters in Plovdiv on Tuesday, referred to the current approach of GERB-UDF and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) as a responsible behaviour of parties that are diametrically opposed in terms of hatred while also having perfectly identical programmes.

Asked about the development of the cabinet negotiations, Borissov said: "I was very clear, when I said that the negotiations are led by Mariya Gabriel. The person, who will be prime minister and deputy prime minister, must have the confidence, knowledge, skill and authority to conduct such negotiations". The GERB leader emphasized that Gabriel was entrusted with the powers to make compromise, if such is necessary to have a government formed.

Borissov promised to have transparent negotiations, since the last two years were marked by "chaos, poverty, crime, smuggling, migration, inflation".

The leader of GERB warned that anyone, who would criticize such a government, is acting to topple the entire political system, which would lead to "new early elections, i.e., a catastrophe".

Asked whether a new budget extension would be needed, Borissov said that he insisted that CC co-leader Assen Vassilev be in the cabinet to do what Vassilev had planned. According to Borissov, the top priorities include drafting a state budget and finishing Justice Minister Krum Zarkov's judicial reform.
