UNICEF Bulgaria is launching a fundraising campaign to help victims of the devastating earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria, the organization announced Friday. Thousands of children and families remain at risk and in urgent need of support. UNICEF is working on site with partners in both countries to provide vulnerable children with winter clothing, clean drinking water, protection and psychosocial support. UNICEF is working to identify separated and unaccompanied children and subsequently reunite them with their families, and provide psychosocial support, as many of the children are likely to have experienced severe trauma from the earthquake.

Anyone can support UNICEF's efforts by texting UNICEF to 1021 and donating BGN 5. VAT and fees are not due for subscribers of all mobile operators. Donations are also accepted to the UNICEF Bulgaria bank account, with the reason "donation - earthquake".

In Turkiye, UNICEF is coordinating with the Turkish Government and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) to address emerging needs related to the broader humanitarian response. The top priority is to ensure that affected children and families receive the support they need. In Syria, UNICEF has already provided water and hygiene materials for 12,000 people.
